Payment Operations Specialist

Team description:

EU Payment Operations keeps the money moving for millions of small businesses, handling the daily transactions, reconciliations and bank recalls that sit right at the heart of SumUp's e‑money business. This role joins a close‑knit team of specialists, working across banking portals, internal back‑office systems and SAP Fiori to keep payment flows accurate, compliant and on time. It's a chance to build a genuinely deep understanding of how a regulated e‑money product works end to end, learning directly from experienced specialists while taking on real ownership from day one.

 

What you'll do:

• Process daily payment transactions accurately and within strict cut-off times.

• Reconcile transactions across bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.

• Manage recall requests and correspond with banking partners by email.

• Handle rejected and manual payments through internal back-office tools.

• Respond to customer support queries in Salesforce within agreed SLAs.

• Build working knowledge of the accounts and payment flows tied to our EMI licence.

 

You'll be great for this role if:

• Interest in payments and financial operations, with curiosity about how money moves through a regulated e‑money product.

• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with figures, reconciliations and Excel.

• Ability to stay calm and organised under tight deadlines, particularly around daily cut-offs.

• Comfort working closely with a small team and coordinating across departments like Finance, Treasury and Compliance.

• Track record of taking ownership of tasks and following through until they're resolved.
