IT Software Architect, Software Governance and GTM Systems

San Francisco · Hybrid · Security · 3h ago

About the Team

The SaaS and Software Governance team sits within Corporate IT and helps OpenAI scale from startup-speed tooling to mature enterprise architecture. The team owns practical governance for software, SaaS, integrations, APIs, identity, data access, and agent-enabled workflows, with a mandate to improve security, reduce software sprawl, and help business teams move faster through better foundations.

About the Role

We are looking for an IT Software Architect to help shape the software, SaaS, GTM systems, integration, and agent-enabled architecture that lets OpenAI scale quickly while improving security, compliance, data quality, and user experience. This is a hands-on governance and enablement role: the person will partner with business teams, IT operations, Security, Procurement, Business Platforms, Applied teams, GTM, Revenue Operations, Partnerships, and Data Engineering to reduce unmanaged sprawl and build reusable enterprise foundations.

In this role, you will:

  • Own target architecture for enterprise software, SaaS, integrations, APIs, and agent-enabled business systems across Corporate IT.

  • Build lightweight governance patterns that guide teams before software and integration decisions become hard to unwind.

  • Create standards for identity, access, data movement, API usage, admin rights, auditability, observability, and vendor integration.

  • Partner with GTM, Partnerships, Revenue Operations, Finance, Legal, HR, Research, Product, and Operations to translate business workflows into scalable enterprise system patterns.

  • Develop blueprints for customer/partner 360, partner portal, PRM/CRM integration, reporting, content management, learning, workflow, approvals, and collaboration.

  • Help define where OpenAI-native GPT or agent-built solutions should replace point SaaS tools.

  • Drive software catalog maturity across ownership, system-of-record boundaries, integration path, data classification, access model, renewal, risk posture, and support model.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • 10+ years in enterprise architecture, business systems architecture, IT architecture, SaaS governance, or integration architecture.

  • Strong experience with SaaS operating models, software lifecycle management, software asset management, and vendor/platform governance.

  • Experience designing integrations across Salesforce CRM/PRM, Experience Cloud, Workday, ServiceNow, Jira, Google Workspace, Microsoft, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, Okta, Workato, marketplace platforms, or partner enablement tools.

  • Practical knowledge of SSO, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, RBAC/ABAC, privileged admin models, service accounts, OAuth apps, and token governance.

  • Ability to evaluate software from business value, architecture fit, security posture, data exposure, cost, supportability, user experience, and vendor strategy perspectives.

  • Comfort influencing senior stakeholders without relying only on formal authority.

  • Curiosity about AI-native enterprise architecture and where GPT, Codex, and agentic workflows can replace traditional SaaS patterns.
