Senior Solution Engineer – Federal Public Sector

We are looking for an experienced Senior Solution Engineer based in Canberra to drive growth and technical strategy within the Australian Federal Public Sector. In this role, you will be dedicated to solving our government customers' most complex data challenges and closing large, impactful deals.

This is an office- and customer-facing role requiring high in-person contact with key stakeholders across Canberra (this is not a remote position). You will work hand-in-hand with our sales team and channel partners to understand customer requirements, build trusted executive relationships, deliver compelling value-based demonstrations, lead enterprise Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and ultimately secure new business.

You are equally comfortable in both business and technical contexts, moving seamlessly between executive briefings and technical deep-dives.

In This Role You Will Get To:

• Partner with Sales: Develop deep trust and strong strategic partnerships with Sales Executives to navigate and win complex sales cycles.

• Build Market Champions: Identify, foster, and develop technical and executive champions within our target Federal Public Sector accounts.

• Translate Customer Needs: Architect high-impact solutions by translating complex customer requirements, challenges, and mission outcomes into concrete Snowflake capabilities.

• Deliver Technical Value: Work hands-on with prospects and customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of Snowflake technology throughout the sales cycle—from initial whiteboarding and demos to Proof of Concept (PoC) execution and design.

• Engage Public Sector Leadership: Present Snowflake’s technology, roadmap, and vision to senior executive stakeholders and technical teams across government agencies.

• Stay Ahead of the Market: Immerse yourself in the evolving data and AI landscape, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive technologies and positioning Snowflake effectively.

• Collaborate Globally: Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continuously share customer feedback and refine Snowflake’s product offerings.

On Day One We Will Expect You To Have:

• Security Clearance: Hold an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 or higher preferred) or have the eligibility and willingness to obtain one.

• Location & Engagement: Base location in Canberra with a commitment to maintaining high in-person office presence and direct customer interaction.

• Industry Experience: 10+ years of overall technical industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a pre-sales / solution engineering role.

• Solutioning Expertise: Proven ability to translate complex business and mission problems directly into scalable data architectures and actionable solutions.

• Presentation & Communication: Outstanding presentation and storytelling skills tailored for both technical audiences and executive leadership (whiteboarding, presentations, and live demos).

• Core Technical Foundations:

  • Broad experience with enterprise-scale Database and Data Warehouse technologies, ETL, analytics, and cloud platforms (e.g., Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Fabric).

  • Hands-on expertise with SQL, SQL analytics, and Python.

  • Ability to perform deep discovery of a customer’s architectural framework and map it to Snowflake’s Data Architecture.

• Education: University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience). A Master’s degree in Data Science or Business Administration is a plus.

Desired Qualifications (One or More):

• Deep domain expertise and existing networks within key Federal Public Sector domains:

  • Defence and National Security Agencies

  • Law Enforcement Agencies

  • Federal Health Agencies

• Experience working alongside Global Systems Integrators (GSIs) such as EY, Deloitte, Accenture, etc.
