About your role
The Junior Product Manager for Smartphones is responsible for driving the success of Fairphone smartphones category by supporting a strong long-term roadmap, documenting product requirements and ensuring timely product launches. The Junior Product Manager smartphones fosters cross-functional collaboration, and timely decision-making, acting as the bridge between the front and the back end of developing products. The Junior Product Manager guards technical excellence accurately collects, stores, and translates requirements into engineering instructions for defined products.

Support to define a strategic product roadmap for smartphones, ensuring alignment with market trends, technology developments and internal capacity and budget.
Translation of customer insights (ie. Customer Service) into new product requirements, understanding of customer needs and pain points to balance technical feasibility and business for products that deliver exceptional user experience and drive customer loyalty of our three core customer groups; End-users, Business IT Purchasers (B2B) and telecom operators.
Support the Technical product manager with the accurate and timely collection, ‘storage’ and analysis of product requirements, with a special focus on telecom operators together with the Technical Account Managers (ie. Leading to successful partner approval).
Identification of immediate blockers, guidance of technical aspects and communication with Engineering and other teams following the overall direction and goals of the complete portfolio to assure alignment.
Collaboration with the Quality Assurance team on the right requirement validation strategy for every product.
Support of overall direction and goals of all product categories Audio, Accessories and Software to ensure seamless integration between them (ie. providing support to the Product Managers Software in defining the vision and roadmap of its own SW products like B2B features, My FP app, retail demo etc.)..
Upon capacity availability, Coordination and Management of product team’s Input to external (European) research projects, which normally focus around circular electronics and transparent supply chains.
Your Key Objectives
Drive Success for your assigned products, establish the product vision and defined roadmap and ensure the successful mass production, launch and market performance of Fairphone smartphones by guarding customer needs, quality, certification, and aligning with our impact goals.
Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, reliable, and sustainable smartphones, owning the dedicated NPI product workstream and provide expertise throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to launch to end of life.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration, build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to achieve product goals.
Maintain Feaiphone’s leadership in Innovation and Impact, stay ahead of industry trends, identify emerging technologies, and integrate sustainable practices into product development to maintain Fairphone's leadership in ethical smartphones.
Your Skills & Experience
MUST have’s
3-5 years experience in product management, including strategic product planning and roadmap development, customer needs analysis and market research.
2 years experience in the consumer electronics industry, with a strong preference for mobile telecommunications. Understanding of smartphone technology, components, and architecture and having worked in a multinational/multicultural set up.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Product, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand market dynamics, product benchmarking, financial KPIs, and business models to drive product performance and strategic growth.
Deep product and technical knowledge, enabling easy engagement with engineering teams and making informed decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
Strategic and critical thinking skills, being able to see the bigger picture while also evaluating complex challenges with a structured, solution-oriented mindset.
Excellent problem-solving skills, being able to turn ambiguity into clarity and deliver practical solutions.
Exceptional time and work management, with the ability to prioritize dynamically and drive progress across multiple priorities.
Clear and concise communication, especially in writing, to articulate roadmaps, product requirements, and decisions effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills, building trusted relationships across teams and fostering a collaborative working environment.
Customer and partner relationship experience, maintaining positive, professional interactions with external stakeholders to align product development with market needs.
A systemic mindset, understanding how product decisions impact other teams.
Familiarity with quality assurance processes.

Experience with working with Asian partners
Product management certification or enough experience with product introduction methods, frameworks and tools.
